He's no nonsense and unwilling to compromise when it comes to doing things the right way; trustworthy and resourceful, with a dry wit. That's Mug!Mug W. Merchison to be precise. The W is for Wheelhouse. Yep, Mug was born in the wheelhouse of his parent’s ship. Pretty much grew up there, too.His first name also has a story. That came from his dad’s favorite coffee mug, which proudly displays the logo of the family ship, MERCHISEA. His dad had an endless supply of those mugs, because he gave one to every person he met in his travels. It’s slightly ironic that Mug is now the captain of the MERCHISEA and gives out those same mugs today.That's also how Mug discovered being a lifelong mariner wasn’t enough for him. He saw his father create bonds and friendships with those mugs. So, he expanded his operation and began selling branded merchandise and apparel to other businesses in port towns he docked in. All to help them forge a brand connection with their community. Soon, Mug had a burgeoning enterprise, shared lots of stories while sipping from those mugs and got a nickname that stuck.The legend of Mug, The Merch Mariner was born.

Origin

Unlike some notable startups, the idea for Merch Mariner didn't naively begin in a college dorm or home garage. Instead, like our persona Mug, we’re lifers in the brand merchandise sea. Born from decades long perspective in various roles and industry supply chain positions. Motivated to compete with business models that are either antiquated, impersonally tech-heavy and commodity-based or agency wannabe’s unable to live up to their ideals. What emerged is a brand story focused merch company. Earning client trust through a principled, process-driven approach. Buoyed by unique industry expertise.
